Carlos Vela scores goal, adds assist in Real Sociedad win

Though he's still refusing Mexico national team call-ups, Vela's club career continues to show no signs of slowing down in the new season.
Carlos Vela got his club campaign off to a flying start, scoring a goal and tallying an assist in Real Sociedad's opening-day 2-0 victory over Getafe.

The erstwhile Mexico international picked up right where he left off last season in the 42nd minute, when he was played behind the Getafe defense and lifted a delightful chip over the onrushing goalkeeper to score La Liga's first goal of the season.

Vela helped Sociedad kill the game off in the 70th minute, when his through ball sent Haris Seferovic behind the defense to seal the win.

Sociedad faces Lyon in the Champions League on Tuesday, in the first leg of a two-leg playoff to determine which side will reach the group phase.
