The 20-year-old's absence from Monterrey's preseason training has led to speculation about his future. He has been linked to several clubs in Europe.Monterrey starlet Jesus “Tecatito” Corona is yet to show up for preseason training at the club, leading to speculation his future could lie in Europe.
The Mexico Under-20s winger was due back at Los Rayados on Monday and the club released a statement to say he has not received any special permission to be absent, with club president Luis Miguel Salvador stating he hasn’t even been able to get in contact with Corona.
Tecatito – as he is widely known - has been linked to clubs like FC Porto, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04, Espanyol, Juventus and Fiorentina in recent months, but is thought to be closing in on a move to Dutch side Twente, at least according to reports from Holland.
Corona’s agent has said that his player’s future is definitely in Europe, but the message coming out of Monterrey is that the 20-year-old is part of the team’s plans for next season.
“The intention is that he participates with us and evidently if he has a concrete option it would be handled by the board,” coach Victor Manuel Vucetich told the press in Monterrey on Wednesday.
Corona debuted in August 2010 for Monterrey and has already made over 50 appearances for the club, including some impressive displays at last December’s Club World Cup, which alerted the attention of European clubs.
