Pumas’ Paraguayan captain Dario Veron is confident his side will be involved in the Clausura postseason, as the race for the playoffs spots heats up in the Liga MX.
“As captain, I can guarantee that we will be in the playoffs because the team is playing well and playing every game like it is a final,” said the 33-year-old on Friday.
Pumas – one of Mexico’s biggest clubs – have not made the postseason in two years and currently sit in seventh position in the Liga MX, just three points ahead of 10th place Pachuca, with two games of the regular season remaining.
On Sunday, Pumas face the already-eliminated Jaguares in the Estadio Olimpico Universitaro in a game that could seal their place in the liguilla.
“We have to win by any means to be able to qualify, we know what we have to do to take three points against Jaguares,” he stated.
Antonio Torres Servin’s side lost last weekend’s clasico against America, but had only been defeated once in the 11 games prior to that.
“The games that we’ve lost were down to mistakes that you shouldn’t commit, but we are fine and qualification depends on us,” finalized Veron.
