Real Sociedad netted three goals in the second period to come out a 3-0 winner over struggling Mallorca, with Mexican forward Carlos Vela once again getting on the score sheet.
Javi Marquez was dismissed in the first half, ensuring a tough night would be in store for Mallorca, and Vela and company were ruthless in the second half to earn three vital points.
Sociedad took the lead 10 minutes into the second period when Juan Catalayud’s palmed save broke straight to Gonzalo Castro, who tucked home for the opening goal.
Vela made it two 20 minutes from time when he stroked in from Ruben Pardo’s cross.Diego Ifran rounded out the scoring two minutes before the full-time whistle when he passed the ball home from 12 yards.
Vela and his club will be back in action next week with a road match against Real Zaragoza.
