Pachuca to support Herrera's decision on his future

The club will support the young defender no matter where he decides to head, according to the team's new manager.
As Hector Herrera prepares to possibly join the growing list of young Mexicans headed to Europe, Pachuca will support him all the way, says new Tuzos coach Gabriel Caballero.

After America defender Diego Reyes announced a transfer to Porto scheduled for the summer of 2013, Herrera has also been mentioned as a potential target of the Portuguese giant, as well as English Premier League side Manchester United and Liverpool.

Despite Herrera’s growing role at Pachuca since winning gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Caballero says the club has plans to support the player’s desire to eventually move to the highest levels of world club football.

“What you have to think of is the benefit of the player, of his future, his projection, his illusions,” Caballero told

Negotiations with Porto are on-going according to the manager, who is still unsure if Herrera could move in the January transfer window, or will form part of Pachuca’s revamped squad for the Clausura 2013.

Caballero took over for Hugo Sanchez last month, after the team failed to make the Liguilla for the Apertura 2012.
