thumbnail Hello,

A day after the team released a statement terminating his consulting services, Cruyff told the Dutch media that he was unaware that he had lost his position.

Now former Chivas advisor Johan Cruyff assured media in Holland on Monday that he knew nothing about his separation from the Mexican club.

“I don’t know anything about it, I’m finding out about it now,” the former Barcelona star told Telegraaf, a Dutch paper for which he writes a column.

“I’m trying to find out what’s going on,” the Dutchman concluded.

Chivas issued a statement late Sunday night terminating the consulting services of Cruyff’s company. The Dutchman had been contracted in February by Chivas owner Jorge Vergara as a special consultant on sporting matters.

The Dutch legend brought in fellow Dutchman John V’ant Schip as head coach, and Chivas suffered through an up-and-down Clausura in which the team finished eighth but was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Toluca.

Just last month, during an extended visit by Cruyff to Guadalajara, the group had assured that the project was on track and would continue. Instead, Chivas said in the statement on Sunday that it was parting ways with Cruyff because the project had failed to meet goals set by Cruyff’s team and Chivas ownership.
