Newly-appointed Espanyol head coach Javier Aguirre could could be set to bring some of his countrymen to play in La Liga.
The latest Mexican influx to La Liga could just be getting started, after Javier Aguirre’s appointment as coach at Espanyol.
“El Vasco” told TDN on Thursday that he’s looking to bring in Mexicans, and that specifically Oribe Peralta might fit the style of play he is angling for in Barcelona.
“Oribe is an excellent player,” the coach said. “He’s an extraordinary center forward that’s in the best moment, I believe, of his career, and he’s an option that of course I like.”
The two-time Mexican World Cup coach did mention that money could well be an obstacle in terms of bringing in Mexican players.
“The President was very clear with me in that we don’t have any cash,” Aguirre said. “To bring in people we have to get rid of people. So I’ll have to make an evaluation of the 24 players I have in the first team and make decisions.”In his last La Liga coaching stint at Zaragoza, Aguirre brought Mexicans Efrain Juarez and Pablo Barrera to Spain on loan.
