Humberto Suazo continues to avoid the advances of Monterrey, which would like to extend the contract of the star striker, which expires after the Clausura 2013.
Reports in Suazo’s native Chile had the attacker signing an extension with los Rayados through 2015, for approximately $3 million per season, which would have made Suazo one of the highest paid players in Mexico.
“What’s been said is false, still nothing has happened,” the Chilean reported via his Twitter account.
Suazo has negotiated a somewhat contentious relationship with the Mexican club since holding out earlier this year over his contract, partially over Monterrey’s refusal to negotiate with European teams interested in bringing him back to the Old Continent after a stint with Zaragoza before the 2010 World Cup.
If he doesn’t sign an extension, the Chilean would become a free agent in the summer of 2013.
