El Tri will take on Denmark prior to opening the final round of World Cup qualifying against Jamaica on Feb. 6.
Before beginning regional qualifying at home on Feb. 6 against Jamaica - a match confirmed Wednesday night during the Hexagonal draw -- El Tri will head north to take on the Scandinavian nation in a night game at University of Phoenix Stadium.
Coach Manuel De la Torre will use the match as preparation for the game with Jamaica a week later, but he will have a mostly domestic roster, as the January date comes too soon for the February FIFA match date assigned for the qualifying match.
El Tri has faced Denmark, currently FIFA’s 22nd-ranked team, five times, winning two and drawing two. The countries most recently played in 1997 in San Diego, with Mexico coming away a 3-1 winner.
The match against Jamaica will be the first in El Tri's 10-game run through the final round of qualifying, where the team will face home and away matches against the USA, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica and Jamaica.
