Dutch legend Johann Cruyff will visit Guadalajara next week, to check up on the progress of the project he’s leading at Chivas.
“Cruyff will be here for the matches against Xelajú and Atlas, to meet with me and with Jorge [Vergara], and other people in the club,” Chivas Coach John Van’t Schip revealed at a press conference on Tuesday.
The Barcelona and Dutch national team legend took over this summer as an adviser to Vergara and Chivas, specifically concerned with player personnel and tactics. He brought in fellow Dutchman Van’t Schip, but has been criticized for supervising the project from Europe, and demonstrating some gaps in his knowledge of the club and Mexican football in general.
“Cruyff is coming to talk to us about how things are going in the team, the project, the organization, and also to see four games the team will play, as well as reserves,” said Van’t Schip. “We may also talk about things we need to change.”
Chivas currently stands eight in the table, having tied with Jaguares over the weekend. After a poor start to the tournament, Guadalajara has won two of three, and travels to Cancun to face Atlante this weekend.
