The two-time defending CONCACAF Champions League titlist will square off against the AFC Champions League winner.
Monterrey may not yet know who the team will be facing in its first 2012 FIFA Club World Cup match, but the club does when it will go down.
On Monday, FIFA released the calendar for the club competition, which will feature the CONCACAF champ taking on the Asian representative on Dec. 9 at Toyota Stadium in Toyota City.
The winner of the match will move on to face Chelsea four days later in Yokohama, a switch from last year's format that had would have had the winner of that particular pairing face the CONMEBOL representative.
This year's edition of the CWC will kick off Dec. 6 in Yokohama, where Auckland City of New Zealand will face the Japanese representative, which is as of yet undecided.
That game's winner will move on to face the CAF winner on Dec. 9. Copa Libertadores winner Corinthians of Brazil will be awaiting that result as that club has qualified directly into the tournament's semifinal match.
Yokohama will be the setting for the CWC final, to be played Dec. 16.
