Tijuana has lost one of its main strikers in the Argentinian José Sand, who returned to his country to play with Racing Club. The 31-year-old is expected to be introduced on Friday, after the agreement was finished this Tuesday.
Sand, who played 34 games with Xolos and scored 12 goals agreed to a contract for two years and an option for a third with La Academia. The striker arrived in the Mexico Primera Division exactly one year ago from Deportivo La Coruña where played only five games.
When the forward arrived to Tijuana, reports indicated that the Mexican club had to pay $4 million. Now, reports from Argentina indicate that ‘La Academia’ had to pay only $800,000 for his rights.
With the deal done, Tijuana is left for now with only Duvier Riascos (Colombia) and Raúl Henríquez (México) as forwards.
