A former midfielder from Virginia Commonwealth University, José Carlos Castillo joins Jaguares Chiapas.

A former Virginia Commonwealth University midfielder is the newest addition to Mexican club Jaguares Chiapas. José Carlos Castillo will join the team in the next few days after finish his agreement on Tuesday.

Castillo, a member of the U20 Guatemalan team during the 2011 World Cup (Colombia) was a Sophomore in 2011 with the Rams where played 14 games, missing time due to his commitment with Guatemala's Senior National Team.

The midfielder, who was born in 1992 in Guatemala City, will be the third ‘Chapin’ signing with Primera division Mexicans teams after Carlos Ruiz (Veracruz) and Henry López (Tigres).

This year Castillo was in a mix of reportedly in trials with Sporting Kansas City, D.C. United and the Columbus Crew. At the beginning of 2012, another report said that the midfielder was signed by the Durgapur Vox, Champions of the Bengal Premier League Soccer, but the season, which was set to begin in February, was postponed, leaving him without a team.
