Chivas has presented Johan Cruyff to the media, after being confirmed as the club's new advisor on Saturday.

The former Ajax and Barcelona star has been picked to help revive the fortunes of the flagging outfit, which has started the 2012 Clasura campaign miserably, finding itself bottom of the standings after five defeats in its first seven matches.

In addition to supporting the club in the short-term, the 64-year-old has also been entrusted with laying the foundations for success in the long haul, which both himself and club owner Jorge Vergara explained at a press conference.

"In a crisis, you have two options. You either crush your dreams and become a failure, or you care about them and become a success," said Vergara. "I invited Johan and his people to help us win the game tomorrow [against Santos Laguna]. He will lead all of Chivas' operations on the field. He has come to spearhead the entire project."

Cruyff took a more calculated approach upon taking to the microphone, but also reminded supporters of Chivas that he will not assume coaching duties of the side.

"Our task will be get the best out of the existing players and identify what is failing, it's that simple," he said. "There is a pride and and an aim to always win, but in life you can not win everytime. You must first lay down a strong foundation and from there you can grow.

"My days as a coach have finished," he concluded.
