Mexicans Abroad: Nery Bags First Aris Goal

Nery Castillo scored for Aris on the weekend.
In seven seasons with Olympiacos, Nery Castillo scored 30 goals and established himself on the Mexican national team. After failed stint after failed stint eventually led him back to Greece, Castillo finally showed some of the same scoring flair that led him to success in the first place.

Castillo started for Aris and scored his first Greek goal since 2007 in Aris' 4-3 win on the weekend. For Castillo, the goal comes after he was unable to find much success with Chicago Fire, Manchester City and Shakhtar Donetsk. But Castillo's goal in the country that made him a star may only be the beginning.


Andres Guardado(Deportivo la Coruña)
- Guardado played all 90 minutes in the 2-1 win against Real Sociedad early in the week. He was called up for the 2-0 loss to Espanyol, but he was taken off the call-up list at the last moment. Next: Levante 3/20 La Liga.

Jonathan Dos Santos(Barcelona B)
- Dos Santos played all 90 minutes in Barca B’s 4-0 win against Tenerife. He then played all 90 minutes during the weekend in the 4-0 win against Gimnastic. Dos Santos opened the score in the 16th minute and scored again in the 48th minute.  Next: Huesca 2/20 Segunda.

Javier Aguirre( Real Zaragoza)
- Aguirre’s Zaragoza beat Valencia with a 4-0 score line. Zaragoza is currently four points from relegation safety Next: @ Mallorca 3/19 La Liga.

Giovani Dos Santos (Racing Santander)
- Dos Santos played the second half against Osasuna during the 3-1 loss.  Next: Real Sociedad 3/20 La Liga.  


Carlos Vela (West Bromwich Albion)
- No activity for the team because of FA Cup play. Next: Arsenal 3/19 Premier League.

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (Manchester United)
-‘Chicharito’ played all 90 minutes during the 2-0 win against Arsenal in the FA Cup. Though ’Chicharito’ did not score, he is header provided the set up for the first goal. He narrowly missed scoring United’s second, but his miss led to a goal for his teammate. Next: Marseille 3/15 Champions League; Bolton 3/19 Premier League.

Pablo Barrera (West Ham)
- Barrera was not called for the 2-1 loss against Stoke City in the FA Cup. West Ham are out of the competition. Next: @ Tottenham 3/19 Premier League.  

Carlos Salcido (Fulham)
- No activity for the team because of FA Cup play. Next: @ Everton 3/19 Premier League.  


Efrain Juarez (Celtic)
- The game against Inverness for the Scottish Cup was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The game has been rescheduled. Next: Inverness 3/16 Scottish Cup.


Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez (PSV)-
‘Maza’ remained on the bench for the 0-0 draw against Rangers in the Europa League. He received all 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw against NEC Nijmegen. Next: @ Rangers 3/17 Europa League; FC Utrecht 3/20 Eredivisie.

Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar)
- Moreno played all 90 minutes in the 2-1 win against Roda JC. He also received a yellow card in the 57th minute. Next: Vitesse 3/18 Eredivisie.


Nery Castillo (Aris)
- Castillo reappeared on the score sheet with a goal in the 68th minute. He played 83 minutes during the 4-3 win against Kerkyra. Next: Panserraikos 3/20 SuperLig.


Juan Manuel Alvarez (Saprissa)
