Ex-Chvias USA star Jonathan Bornstein arrived in Mexico on Tuesday. While he won't be eligible to play for his new club until January, Jonathan Bornstein is now officially an American Abroad.
Bornstein arrived in Monterrey on Tuesday and will immediately begin preseason with Tigres UANL.
The ex-Chivas USA standout said he was anxious to get the process started.
"I am very happy and more than anything excited," Bornstein told reporters upon arriving in Monterrey. "What I want to do is to get started and contribute to the team. This is definitely a great step in my career, coming to Tigres. Being in Monterrey is going to make me a better player and I just have to look for it."
Bornstein said he wanted nothing but the best with his new club.
"My goals are to win a championship with Tigres," Bornstein said. "I want to win the cup, win many games and have a lot of success."
While he will have to adjust to new teammates and a new coaching staff, Bornstein said he tried to learn as much as possible about other aspects of this new stage in his career by talking to Chivas USA's Paulo Nagamura, who spent the Bicentenario 2010 season on loan with Tigres.
"I know they've been a good team over the years," Bornstein said. "I definitely talked to Paulo about his experience here. He said positive things about the city, the club and about living in Monterrey."
