Manchester United's Chris Smalling Excited About Mexico Star Javier Hernandez's Arrival
New signing also relishing MLS All-Stars' challenge.
By Matt Monaghan
The two youngsters have been the sole pieces of transfer activity by manager Sir Alex Ferguson this summer. While Smalling has been featuring for United on their North American tour, Hernandez only joined up with the rest of the squad on Monday due to his star turn in South Africa.
Speaking during a press conference before tomorrow night's friendly against the Major League Soccer All-Stars, the former Fulham man was excited about the new arrival.
"I’m really looking forward to playing alongside him," Smalling said.
"Like him, I’m new to the club, but I’ve settled in really well over the last two weeks and I’m sure he will do, too. Everyone will make him feel welcome and hopefully he’ll have a great start to his United career."
The England youth international was also convinced the MLS selection will pose another strong test after United fell to a 2-1 defeat to Kansas City Wizards at the weekend.
“The first three games [on the tour] have provided us with a good challenge and to be up against the best players in the MLS will be an even bigger task for us," he said.
"I’m really looking forward to it.”
