Humility A Lesson America Stress After Six-Goal Rout

America players refuse to make too much of their 6-0 win over Queretaro while hat-trick hero Antonio Lopez said his performance won't make him lose his head.

America destroyed Queretaro by six goals on Sunday as America displayed their muscle.

But to assume that the rout would give America a gigantic boost of confidence would be to assume incorrectly.

America's Angel Reyna said the team is happy with the win, but it counted the same as any other win.

"There's no reason for us to become blinded by this," Reyna told reporters after the match. "We worked hard and we should enjoy it, but Queretaro did not do some things and we took advantage. The work is important and sometimes you win 1-0 and other times like (Sunday) but the end result is always three points."

The victory gave America 16 points on the season, good for fifth in the overall table. It also served as a bit of a breakout party for Antonio Lopez. The youngster had his best match for America as he scored three of the club's six goals. Lopez has been one of just a handful of talented and bright prospects coming through America's youth teams, but Lopez insisted he still has a long way to go despite his showing against Queretaro.

"Let's not make too much of things," Lopez said. "I'm only starting out and I have to learn how to handle these things."

Lopez said humility is a quality he learned as a youngster, and one the club would do well to display.

"My family taught me how to be the same way under any circumstances," Lopez said. "I just can't make a big deal out of things because I'm learning and just starting out."
