Queretaro’s manager, Carlos Reinoso, was supposed to be celebrating his birthday but America spoiled those plans.

America had no mercy for Carlos Reinoso and Queretaro as they beat them, 6-0. Reinoso was also sent off and was unable to see all of his beloved America’s goals. Antonio Lopez scored a hat-trick for America and assisted in a goal. La Aguilas locked down in defense as they did not let Queretaro have anything.

The last time that America scored six goals that were all from Mexican born players was in 1986 against Tecos.

First Half

America would contain possession of the ball early on. Antonio Lopez would have a good chance in front of goal in the 2nd minute. Lopez had his chance but chose to give it up to Aquivaldo Mosquera who was unable to finish.

Antonio Lopez was the target man for America again in the 13th minute. Angel Reyna laid a good cross into the box but Lopez was unable to get to it. Lopez would have a similar one a minute later that he could not get to.

Queretaro showed very little on offense while America continued to press.

Antonio Lopez would finally get his goal in the 22nd minute. Oscar Rojas crossed the ball into the box and Lopez scored with a diving header. America lead, 1-0.

Lopez was not done there and would score again just three minutes later. Alonso Sandoval drove into the heart of the box. Sandoval shot at an on coming Carlos Bossio. The ball bounced off and landed near Lopez. Lopez spun around and buried the shot.

The game would fall significantly in pace but America still held the ball away from Queretaro.

Second Half

America would start off the second half with another goal. Pavel Pardo caught Queretaro off guard with a quick free kick. Reyna got the ball and drove it inside the box before passing it off to Lopez. Tony pushed the ball in and got his first hat-trick with the America jersey.

Carlos Reinoso would receive something for his birthday. The Queretaro coach would get a red after going into the field to contest a call.

Tony Lopez was not only making goals but assisting in them as well. Lopez found Angel Reyna who had a go from long distance and buried it past Bossio.

Queretaro would finally get a chance in the 62nd minute. Romo headed the ball off a free kick but could not give it any direction.

America would get their fifth of the day in the 64th minute. Pavel Pardo found Alonso Sandoval in space. Sandoval drove into the box, shot to the far post, and drilled it.

Queretaro just wanted the misery to end but America had one more before the game ended. Sandoval crossed the ball into the box; Daniel Marquez went into the air and headed the ball home.

America just passed the ball around for the rest of the game as they pummeled Queretaro 6-0.
