Bravo Confident In Pumas' Offensive Might

Martin Bravo said Pumas are coming together following Pumas' 3-0 win over Pachuca.

Pumas' offensive problems might be over.

Through six games, Pumas forwards had combined for zero goals. Against Atlante on Feb. 21, Martin Bravo bagged the unit's first goal of the season - Pumas' eighth of the season - as the club won 1-0.

On Saturday, Bravo scored again as Pumas routed Pachuca 3-0 in Estadio Hidalgo.

Bravo said the drought was over.

"I'm happy. The team played well and finished well," Bravo told reporters after the game. "I believe we're getting better."

Fellow striker Dante Lopez also scored a goal, as did the red-hot Pablo Barrera. Pumas had three goals in the first half hour and merely had to hold on in order to walk away with three points.

With the win, Pumas improved to 3-1-4 and 13 points, good enough for second place in Group 3.

In the Clausura 2009 season, Pumas finished third in the overall table and won the league title after beating Pachuca in the final. While the club made virtually no changes to its roster for the Apertura '09 campaign, Pumas struggled terribly last season.

The victory over Pachuca, though, gave Bravo hope that the team is headed in the right direction.

"The base of the team has been maintained and we're playing the game we want to play," he said. "We always have faith in our coaching staff and in each other. That's important in order to get back to the level we had."
