Atlante 0-1 Monterrey: Controversial Call Gives Rayados All Three Points
Atlante scored the equalizer but it was called back after a non existent offside.

Monterrey is yet to be defeated by Atlante in Cancun.
First Half
Monterrey got started first courtesy of Aldo De Nigris. De Nigris sent in his shot but it went way wide.
Atlante would get the first shot on goal in the 9th minute. Giancarlo Maldonado turned and shot inside the box but the ball went straight to the hands of Jonathan Orozco.
Atlante tried to surprise with long distance shots. Arturo Muñoz tried it from outside the box but his shot went just over the bar.
Los Potros started to show up more and more on attack as the game wore on.
Monterrey’s clearest chance came in the 34th minute. Severo Meza had good look which bounced off the crossbar.
Atlante had the last one of the half. Christina Bermudez found Giancarlo Maldonado in a good spot but the striker could not finish as his shot went over the bar.
Second Half
Atlante started the second half strong. Daniel Arreola headed the ball towards the back of the net off a corner. The ball was saved off the line by the Monterrey defense.
Monterrey was waiting in the back and that would pay off in the 53rd minute. Osvaldo Martinez scored off a great counter attack that was masterminded by him and Neri Cardozo. Monterrey lead 1-0.
Los Rayados got a burst of confidence with the goal. Aldo De Nigris received the ball inside the box and the striker fired a shot towards goal. Federico Vilar was planted in the right spot and contained the shot.
Atlante lost all hope on offense and were trying to contain the Monterrey attack.
Neri Cardozo got the ball inside the box in the 63rd minute. Cardozo did not choose the right shot as his attempt sailed over the bar.
The game wore on and Atlante seemed to get the tying goal in the 87th minute. Johan Fano sent the ball to the back of the net but the play was annulled by the linesman. There was a non existent offside’s call and Atlante just could not get a break.
Monterrey had a chance to ice the game in the 90th minute. Vilar first stopped the shot of Walter Ayovi. The ball fell in front of Sergio Santana who took a shot but once again Vilar was there to make the save.
Atlante had one last chance in the end but Rafael Marquez’s shot went wide. Monterrey took all three points as they won, 1-0.
