Pardo Says His Case For Tricolor Inclusion Is Strong

Pavel Pardo said his exploits every week for America should have resulted in a look by Mexico manager Javier Aguirre.

Based on his play during each and every Jornada, America captain Pavel Pardo said he merits some sort of look with the national team.

Pardo, who has not been called up by Mexico manager Javier Aguirre since June and has only seen 45 minutes of action underneath El Vasco, said in a press conference that his output with America is more than enough for national team consideration.

"Every weekend, everyone sees that I'm going through a good moment," Pardo said. "I'm at an excellent level not just with football but mentally and I demonstrate that every day."

In America's last three games, Pardo has stated his case loudly. A week ago, Pardo sent a cross that led to an equalizer as America tied Tigres 2-2. In a 3-1 loss to Toluca a few days before, Pardo also had an assist, off a long cross from the right flank. The match before, a 2-0 win over Cruz Azul, Pardo buried a free kick.

No matter how well he feels he is playing, though, Pardo said ultimately it's the manager's job to fill out the roster.

"If you told me that every Sunday you see a Pavel Pardo who is not in form, I'd agree but it looks like to me that I am playing well and at a high level," Pardo said. "But (a call-up) would be a question for the manager."

Pardo is not the only veteran on the outs with Aguirre. Oswaldo Sanchez has 98 caps but has not played for El Tri in more than one year. Also, Adolfo Bautista is a key player on a Chivas squad that is 7-0 while once-key national teamers like Matias Vuoso and Leandro Augusto are also not on the squad anymore these days.

While he can't control the call-ups, what Pardo can control is how he performs on the field.

"That's the case with Oswaldo and others who are not on the national team anymore but playing well," Pardo said. "But it's a matter for the manager and we have to keep showing on the field that we are playing well, and have quality and expeirence that helps our game, as well as success."
