Monterrey controlled the game against Queretaro but they could not beat their goalkeeper. Queretaro sat back and watched but that strategy went to waste late in the game. Monterrey scored 3 goals in the last 20 minutes including 2 in stoppage time.

Monterrey remains unbeaten at home with 4 straight wins

First Half

Monterrey tried to take early control of the game but Queretaro cut every possible space off.

The firs attempt in the game did not come until the 14th minute. Osvaldo Martinez tried it from the edge of the box but his shot had too much behind it as it went over the bar.

Queretaro had no answer, Monterrey controlled possession and were too greedy to give it up.

The first shot on goal came in the 28th minute courtesy of Monterrey. Gerardo Galindo had a first time shot from outside the box but his shot went straight to Lupe Martinez.

Monterrey got a golden chance to go ahead in the 39th minute.  Lupe Martinez left his goal wide open when he came out horribly for the ball. Abraham Carreño knocked the ball to the middle with his head. Sergio Santana had a wide open shot but failed to convert.

Los Rayados had possession and the control but they were unlucky with their chances.

Osvaldo Martinez tried his luck off a free kick in the 43rd minute. Martinez shot towards goal and the ball was deflected by a Queretaro player. Martinez was well alert and was able to avoid the goal as he sent the ball out for a corner.

Monterrey played a great half but went empty handed into the half.

Second Half

Things just picked up for Monterrey in the second half.

Monterrey had a shot on goal in the 46th minute. Neri Cardozo beat his defender, found the space and had a go. Martinez saw it coming and made the easy save.

Queretaro looked much better but still could do nothing on offense.

Los Rayados once more saw a great chance in the 58th minute. Sergio Santana stole the ball in Queretaro's back field and gave the ball off to Carreño. Carreño shot straight at the keeper and missed his opportunity to send his team up.

Monterrey could not do it from close range so they tried it from long distance. Walter Ayovi tried it in the 62nd minute but his potent shot was not enough to get past Martinez.

The game looked like it would end squared but Los Rayados ended the deadlock in the 81st minute.  Jesus Arellano gave the ball to Neri Cardozo who crossed his shot to the far post and drilled it in.

The goal opened up the flood gates as Monterrey was not yet done.

Carreño would get his goal in the 93rd minute. Arellano once again assisted in the play. Carreño got the ball outside the box and shot in the left post. Monterrey went up by two goals but they would score once more.

Jesus Arellano participated in the goal once more. Carreño centered the ball and Arellano went up and headed it in.

Monterrey left it late but came out with a 3-0 win.
