Blanco, Torrado, "Chicharito" Highlight Mexico's Roster For Bolivia
Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Gerardo Torrado were joined by youngsters such as Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez for Mexico's game against Bolivia, as El Tri released the roster for the match on Thursday.
Cuauhtemoc Blanco of Veracruz and Gerardo Torrado of Cruz Azul are the two senior players on the squad and are joined by fellow World Cup veteran Braulio Luna of San Luis. Each player has participated in two World Cups in their respective careers.
Meanwhile, Mexican Primera Division standout Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is among the forwards called up for the match. Hernandez has eight goals in five games - he did not play in Chivas' 1-0 win over Pachuca on Wednesday. Joining him up front are a pair of America standouts - Enrique Esqueda and Angel Reyna - as well as the top forward on the defending champions, Aldo De Nigris.
Not among the call-ups was Miguel Sabah of Morelia, who scored one of Mexico's most important goals in 2009. Sabah's Morelia side will play Nacional of Uruguay on Tuesday in a Copa Libertadores match while Monterrey will host Nacional of Paraguay on Wednesday. Still, Monterrey ceded two players - De Nigris and goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco - while Morelia's Adrian Aldrete also appears on the roster.
All of the players on the squad play with Mexican clubs - Blanco's Veracruz side is in the Liga de Ascenso but the rest are on first-division clubs.
Goalkeepers: Luis Ernesto Michel (Guadalajara), Jonathan Orozco (Monterrey).
Defenders: Paul Aguilar (Pachuca), Efrain Juarez (Pumas), Hugo Ayala (Atlas), Jonny Magallon (Guadalajara), Jorge Torres Nilo (Atlas), Adrian Aldrete (Morelia).
Midfielders: Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Israel Castro (Pumas), Luis Miguel Noriega (Puebla), Braulio Luna (San Luis).
Forwards: Aldo De Nigris (Monterrey), Javier Hernandez (Guadalajara), Pablo Barrera (Pumas), Enrique Esqueda (America), Angel Reyna (America), Cuauhtemoc Blanco (Veracruz).
