Atlas 7-1 Indios: Zorros Show No Mercy On Pathetic Indios

Miguel Zepeda had three goals and set up two others in Atlas' 7-1 thrashing of Indios.

Indios are technically in the Mexican Primera Division but the club from Ciudad Juarez played like a third-tier side on Wednesday.

Atlas annihalated Indios by 7-1 in Estadio Jalisco as the host Zorros showed no mercy on Mexico's worst side. Atlas scored early, late and everywhere in between. Miguel Zepeda had a hat trick - his second of the season - and four other Atlas players found the back of the net. Indios, meanwhile, scored their first goal of the season that was not an own goal.

Atlas' Zepeda got the show started in the second minute when he buried a ball from Gonzalo Vargas into the back of the net. On the quarter hour, Zepeda struck again when Dario Bottinelli found Zepeda on the left side of the box. Zepeda easily sent the ball into the back of the net for the eventual match-winner.

Edgar Pacheco scored Atlas' third goal when he converted a free kick from 22 yards out.

Indios, though, had a response for at least one of those goals. Jair Garcia finished off a cross from Javier Hernandez off a corner kick, and Indios were on the scoreboard.

But the momentum did not last long at all. Vargas scored in the 37th minute when Zepeda showed his passing skills and found Vargas inside the box. Vargas beat Humberto Hernandez and the rout was on. Botinelli got his goal in the 44th minute when Zepeda picked him out and buried his shot.

Zepeda scored Atlas' sixth goal when he knocked in a pass from Mario Mendez while Andres Chitiva added the seventh goal when he converted a penalty kick.
