Atlante 2-0 Jaguares: Potros Finally Pick Up First Victory
Chrstian Bermudez and Arturo Muñoz gave Atlante goals and helped the club win for the first time this season.
Atlante scored goals on either side of halftime as los Potros beat Jaguares 2-0 in Estadio Andres Quintana Roo on Wednesday in a Jornada 6 match.
The game also marked Atlante's first shutout since the first week of the season, a scoreless draw against Queretaro. Jaguares, meanwhile, dropped yet another match. With Toluca picking up a victory in their match, Jaguares and Indios are now the lone teams without a victory this season.
Atlante struck early thanks to a bit of a fortuitous break. Christian Bermudez pounced on a bad pass attempt from a Jaguares defender and fired a 25-yard bomb on goal. Jaguares' Oscar Perez dived but saw the ball sail just out of his reach.
Jaguares did not have many chances to score but one of their few opportunities resulted in a goal by Atlante. As Jaguares pushed forward in the 67th minute, Jose Gonzalez jumped in front of a ball and started a counterattack. Arturo Muñoz sprinted towards Jaguares' side of the field and Gonzalez slipped a well-timed ball over the top of Jaguares' defense and towards Muñoz. Perez came well out of the penalty area to try and turn Muñoz away but Muñoz evaded Perez's efforts and knocked the ball into a wide-open net.
