Mexicans Abroad: Guardado Returns To The Field

Andres Guardado's return to action highlighted the week for Mexicans Abroad.

Andres Guardado- Deportivo La Coruña  (Mexsport)
Injury layoffs are never a good thing, but can prove to be confidence-boosting experiences. Such is the case for Andres Guardado, who was feared lost for up to or even more than six weeks with ligament damage. But a careless tackle in a league match last month resulted in four league games lost, but no more. Guardado may still not be 90-minutes match fit but he can now work on his fitness while helping his club at the same time.

Spain

Rafael Marquez (Barcelona)
- Marquez was suspended for the game because of a red card obtained in the game against Getafe. Barcelona lost 2-1 against Atletico Madrid and lost their unbeaten streak. Next: Racing Santander 2/20 La Liga.  

Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruña)- Guardado made his return from injury in the 2-0 loss to Espanyol. The midfielder entered the second half in the 58th minute. Next: Xerez 2/20 La Liga.  

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barca Atletic)- Dos Santos was with the team for the 2-1 loss to Atletico Madrid, but did not come off the bench to feature in the game. Next: @ Sabadell 2/21.

Juan Seguro (Real Union Club de Irun)- Seguro did not feature in the 1-0 loss to Real Cartagena. Next: Rayo Vallecano 2/21.

Germany


Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart)
- Osorio remained on the bench for the 3-1 loss to Hamburg. Stuttgart sit in 10th place in the table. Next: @ FC Cologne 2/20 Bundesliga.  

England

Carlos Vela (Arsenal)
- The player continues his absence because of a knee injury and remained out for the midweek game against Liverpool. Arsenal won 1-0. The team had no weekend action because of the FA Cup. Next: @ FC Porto 2/17 Champions League; Sunderland 2/20 Premier League.   

Guillermo Franco (West Ham)- Franco remains  out because of injury. The Hammers won 2-0 against Birmingham. Next: Hull City 2/20 Premier League.  

Netherlands

Carlos Salcido (PSV)
- The defender featured for all 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Heracles. Next: @ Hamburg 2/18 Europa League; Sparta Rotterdam 2/21 Eredivisie.  

Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez (PSV)- ‘Maza’ further extended his run in the starting XI and played all 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Heracles. PSV are in first place of the Eredivisie. Next: @ Hamburg 2/18 Europa League; Sparta Rotterdam 2/21 Eredivisie.  

Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar)- AZ won 2-0 against Roda JC where Moreno feature all 90 minutes. Next: @ VVV Venlo 2/20 Eredivisie.  

Turkey

Giovani Dos Santos (Galatasaray)
- Dos Santos’ team was eliminated from the Turkish Cup midweek after a 3-2 win against Antalyaspor on a 4-4 aggregate score. The team did not have a game over the weekend as they were awarded all three points because of conflict within Ankaraspor.

Ecuador

Carlos Moran (Cuenca)
- Moran did not feature in the midweek Copa Libertadores game against Uruguay’s Nacional which Cuenca lost 3-2. Next: Banfield 2/17 Copa Libertadores; @ Macara 2/21 Primera A.

Peru

Rodolfo Espinoza (Club Universitario de Deportes)
- Espinoza featured all 90 minutes in the midweek 2-1 win over Bolivia’s Blooming in the Copa Libertadores. The player was not on the list for the 2-1 loss to Inti Gas Deportes Next: Lanus 2/17 Copa Libertadores; @ Juan Aurich 2/21 Primera Peru.

Venezuela

Rodrigo Prieto (Caracas FC)
- Prieto played 59 minutes in the 2-1 over Mineros de Guayana on Thursday. Next: @ Universidad de Chile 2/18 Copa Libertadores; Atletico Vigia 2/21 Primera Division.  

Colombia

Mario Garcia (Boyaca Chico FC)
- Garcia featured for all 90 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Envigado. Next: Deportivo Pereira 2/17; @ La Equidad 2/21
