America President Michel Bauer said there would be a New America and it certainly looked that way as Las Aguilas got their third win of the season.

Cruz Azul wanted to put an end to their bad streak but they just extended it. America got early goals in the first and second half, dominated Cruz Azul and extended their unbeaten streak against them to 16 games.  Pavel Pardo scored first off a free kick and Jean Beausejour added the stamp in the second half.

Cruz Azul has now lost three in row and has not seen a win since the first Jornada.

First Half

America moved the ball first and looked to get on top early.

Las Aguilas warned Cruz Azul in the 6th minute with a powerful shot from Daniel Montenegro. “Rolfi” shot near post but Yosgart Gutierrez blocked the shot.

Cruz Azul did not heed the warning and paid the price in the 9th minute. Pavel Pardo unleashed a trade mark free kick which beat an extended Gutierrez and sent America ahead, 1-0.

Both squads did very well to cut off each others attacks but America still had the clearer chances.

Rolfi had a good chance in the 18th minute. Montenegro tried to cross his shot to the far post but his shot went well wide.

America slowly started to take over while Cruz Azul struggled to find their stride.

America attacked well but the finishing touch seemed to lack. Enrique Esqueda had a golden chance in the 36th which he wasted when he tried to cross his shot to the far post.

Las Aguilas continued to dominate until the end of the first half. Cruz Azul only managed 2 pairs of corner kicks which they did nothing with.

Second Half

Cruz Azul started the second half with yet another corner kick. They could not convert as America’s defense was firmly planted in the back.

America’s first attack attempt in the second half resulted in a goal in the 52nd minute. Jean Beausejour beat Yosgart Gutierrez and placed his shot near the left post. America went up 2-0.

Cruz Azul had nothing in response for this “new” America. Enrique Esqueda would miss another in the 63rd minute. Esqueda shot toward the near post but it just went wide.

Cruz Azul started to take over control of the ball but they could not get past the America defense.

America stayed back looking for the counter attack but very little happened in the end as America won the game 2-0.
