Mexicans Abroad: Dutch Delights

Giovani Dos Santos' loan spell to Turkey is paying instant dividends in the form of playing time but a pair of Dutch-based defenders were the ones relishing in the glory of a goal.

Giovani Dos Santos' move to Turkey is paying off. While Dos Santos has not exactly settled into Galatasaray quite yet, he is getting valuable minutes that were kept from him in England. While it remains to be seen just how much of an impact Dos Santos has on Galatasaray's season, his move seems a boon for the club as well.

While Dos Santos did not find the back of the net, however, a pair of Dutch-based defenders did for their respective clubs.

Spain

Rafael Marquez (Barcelona)
- Marquez made it on the field as a substitute in the 58th minute. The player was unable to finish the game after receiving a red card in the 90th minute, giving away a penalty in the process. Barcelona won the game aginst Getafe 2-1. Next: @ Atletico Madrid 2/14 La Liga. 

Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruña)-  Guardado is expected by Lotina to be back next week. However, for the game against Malaga Guardado was still out. Deportivo drew 0-0. Next: @ Espanyol 2/14 La Liga.

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barca Atletic) - Dos Santos returned back to Atletic after several first team players returned from the African Cup of Nations. The player made it on to the field in the 66th minute but couldn’t help his team from falling 1-0 to Denia. Next: Sant Andreu 2/14 La Liga.


Juan Seguro (Real Union Club de Irun)
- Seguro did not make it onto the field in the 2-1 win over Albacete. Next: @ FC Cartagena 2/13. 

Germany

Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart)
- Osorio watched from the bench as Stuttgart won 2-1 against Nurnberg. Next: Hamburg 2/13 Bundesliga. 

England

Carlos Vela (Arsenal) -  Vela remained out for the clash against Chelsea because of a knee injury; the Gunners lost 2-0 against Chelsea and are now nine points from first place on the table. Next: Liverpool 2/10 Premier League. 

Guillermo Franco (West Ham) - Currently out injured. The Hammers lost 1-2 against Burnley and are in the relegation zone. Next: Birmingham 2/10 Premier League. 

Netherlands

Carlos Salcido (PSV)
- Carlos Salcido played all 90 minutes in the midweek 2-1 win against FC Utrecht. The player repeated the same time in the 2-0 win over ADO Den Haag. Next: @ Heracles Almelo 2/14 Eredivisie. 

Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez (PSV) - ‘Maza’ played all 90 minutes in the match against FC Utrecht where PSV won 2-1 and received a yellow card. The defender player all 90 minutes once more against ADO Den Haag and headed in the opening goal from a corner kick in the 2-0 win in the 16th minute. Next: @ Heracles Almelo 2/14 Eredivisie. 
 
Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar)
- Moreno returned to play 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against NAC Breda. The defender then gave his team the three points in the match against Feyenoord after heading in a goal in the 87th minute of the game for the 2-1 win.  Next: Roda JC 2/13 Eredivisie. 

Turkey

Giovani Dos Santos (Galatasaray)
- Dos Santos started and played 85 minutes in the scoreless draw against Kayerispor. Next: Ankarasapor 2/14 Turkish Super League. 

Venezuela

Rodrigo Prieto (Caracas FC)
- Prieto was present on the field for the 1-1 draw against Monagas SC. Next: A.C. Mineros 2/11; CD Lara 2/14.

Colombia

Mario Garcia (Boyaca Chico FC)
- Garcia played all 90 minutes in the 2-0 loss against Real Cartagena. The midfielder also received a yellow card in the 61st minute. Next: @ Envigado 2/14
