Bravo, Hernandez Lead Chivas To Fourth Consecutive Win

Chivas beat Queretaro 2-0 and are now 4-0 to start the Bicentenario 2010 season.

The Corregidora Stadium, home of Queretaro, celebrated its 25th anniversary but Chivas were on hand to continue their victory streak and snatch the win from the home team. Omar Bravo scored once again for Chivas while ‘Chicharito’ added a seventh goal in four games to his account propelling the team to a 2-0 win. Queretaro lost the unbeaten record as Chivas retained their perfect start to the season. 

First Half

Bravo seemed to be on terms to score. In the opening minutes of the game Omar Bravo had opportunities to open the scoring for Chivas. Xavi Baez sent in shots for Bravo , but the Chivas forward sent the ball past goal to keep the score level. 

In the 12th minute Queretaro had an opportunity to open the scoring. Laffatigue sent in a cross for Isaac Romo whose header ended up going wide of Luis Michel’s goal. 

Queretaro came close to opening the scoring in the 17th minute as Emilio Lopez sent in a cross from the left wing to Romero inside the box, but the player was unable to get into the ball and slid towards goal as the ball rolled past; Chivas players then cleared out any danger.

Ten minutes later Queretaro had another opportunity with a long ranged effort from Emilio Lopez that brushed against the post. 


‘Chicharito’ Hernadez had an effort in the 32nd minute, but his long range shot was easily held by Bossio.

In the 40th minute Queretaro’s Beltran collided with Michel as the goalkeeper came out from under his sticks to stop the ball that was a danger for goal. The game had to be paused as Michel received treatment for saving the dangerous opportunity. 

Queretaro had another opportunity in added time as Laffatigue took a long distance shot, but it ended in Michel’s hands. 

Second Half

Back for the second half it was Chivas who tried to tilt the scoring in their favor. Edgar ‘Chore’ Mejia took a long distance shot that ended up going just wide of Bossio’s goal. 

In the 53rd minute Queretaro had one of their best opportunities of the night as Romero made his way into the Chivas area and tried to shoot from a tight angle on the right of goal. Luis Michel was able to block the shot with his leg and prevented Queretaro from going up in the scoreboard. 

Omar Bravo was reacquainted with a goal in the 74th minute. ‘Bofo’ sent in a cross from the right and a waiting Omar Bravo was able to hold himself against the Queretaro defense to head the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead for Chivas. 

‘Chicharito’ doubled the score and added his seventh goal in four games for Chivas in the 79th minute. A counterattack saw a surge of Chivas players advanced to the Queretaro area where Omar Bravo sent  in a pass to Hernandez who picked out the ball and rounded in Bossio to slot in the 2-0 for Chivas. 

The score remained the same and gave Chivas the 2-0 win to continue their perfect start to the Bicentenario 2010.
