Pachuca's Torres Out With Hamstring Injury

Pachuca midfielder Jose Francisco Torres is out for a pair of weeks with a slight tear in his hamstring, club manager Guillermo Rivarola said.

Jose Francisco Torres did not play the first game of the Bicentenario 2010 season but was shuffled into the starting lineup for Pachuca's second match of the season.

Now, Torres is facing yet another layoff.

Pachuca manager Guillermo Rivarola said that the American international has a slight hamstring tear and will be lost for two weeks, possibly longer.

"'Gringo' had an MRI and it showed that he has a slight tear," Rivarola said in a press conference. "Unfortunately, we are going to be without him for a pair of weeks."

'Gringo' Torres picked up the injury in Jornada 2 but it did not grow too serious until Pachuca's game against Atlante on the weekend.

"This is a problem that he carried with him since the previous Saturday (against Queretaro) and during the week he aggravated it," Rivarola explained.

Torres started against Atlante but came out in the 66th minute of the match. Pachuca went on to win 5-1. Defender Leobardo Lopez was also injured and will also be out for several weeks, Rivarola said.

Still, while both players were performing well, Torres in particular, Rivarola said his team will find capable replacements.

"(The injuries) cannot affect us," Rivarola said. "Of course they are important players. Leo is a key part of the defense and 'Gringo' was starting to have an outstanding performance in the middle fo the field but I'm confident in the players who will replace them."


Pachuca will host San Luis on Saturday.
