America's Ochoa: Cabañas Happy With America's Win
America goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa visited Salvador Cabañas after America's 1-0 win over Indios on Sunday.
According to Mexico City daily Reforma, Ochoa visited Cabañas the Hospital Angeles Pedegral, where Cabañas has slowly been recovering since he was shot in the head in a Mexico City night club.
Ochoa told Reforma that his teammate was looking better.
"He looks good, he's calm and happy that the team won," Ochoa said.
America beat Indios 1-0 before a home crowd that showed an outpouring of love and support for Cabañas.
While he remains in critical condition, Cabañas has slowly been showing signs of recovery. He was awake and talking to family members late last week since an edema (swelling of the brain) threatened to worsen his condition.
"We hope he continues to recover," Ochoa said. "I talked to him, I squeezed his hand and he wanted to know about the team. I saw him happy, optimistic and certain that he would get past this."
Ochoa was not the only member of America to visit Cabañas on Sunday. Club executives Jaime Ordiales and Yon De Luisa were among Cabañas well-wishers, and Ordiales said the entire team is hoping the situation only continues to improve.
"It was a taxing week, very complicated for the players," Jaime Ordiales told Reforma. "They've been with their teammate. It's been complicated and now we just have to hope that God takes good care of Salvador."
