Mexicans Abroad: Gio Debuts

Giovani Dos Santos may not have been a candidate for playing time with Tottenham but finds himself in a different position with his new club, Goal.com's Andrea Martinez says.

Giovani Dos Santos- Mexico (Mexsport)
Giovani Dos Santos' days with Barcelona ended prematurely but he left an impression nonetheless.

Former Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard thought so highly of Dos Santos that he plucked Dos Santos from a tough situation in England and has thrust him upon the Turkish league. Less than one week after joining Galatasaray on loan, Dos Santos quickly showed how much faith Rijkaard has in him by earning some playing time.

Spain

Rafael Marquez (Barcelona)
- Marquez started and played all 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Sporting Gijon. Next: Getafe 2/6 La Liga.

Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruña)
- Remains out with injury. Deportivo were unable to continue in the Copa del Rey after winning 1-0 against Sevilla but losing on an aggregate score line. The Galician team were also unable to continue their streak against Real Madrid at the Riazor, losing 1-3. Next: @ Malaga 2/7 La Liga. 

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barca Atletic)
- Dos Santos did not play in the 5-0 win against Gava, and did not play with the Barcelona first team against Sporting. Next: @ Denia 2/7.

Juan Seguro (Real Union Club de Irun)
- Seguro entered in the 74th minute in the 0-0 draw against Recreativo Huelva. Next: Albacete 2/7. 


Germany

Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart)
- Osorio was on the bench in the 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund, but did not see any play. Next: @ Hamburg 2/6 Bundesliga

England

Carlos Vela (Arsenal)
- Vela was left of the team sheet for the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa midweek. Again, the player did not suit up for the 3-1 loss against Manchester United on Sunday. Next: @ Chelsea 2/7 Premier League 

Guillermo Franco (West Ham)
- Franco remains out with injury but is expected to return to training next week. The player missed the midweek 1-1 draw against Portsmouth. He was also unavailable for the 0-0 draw against Blackburn Rovers. Next: @ Burnley 2/6 Premier League. 

Netherlands

Carlos Salcido (PSV)
- Carlos Salcido played 61 minutes in the KNVB Cup match against Feyenoord where PSV lost 3-0. The defender played all 90 minutes in the Eredivisie match against Vitesse Arnhem. Next: FC Utrecht 2/3 Eredivisie; ADO Den Haag 2/6 Eredivisie

Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez (PSV)
- ‘Maza’ played all 90 minutes in the KNVB Cup match against Feyenoord where PSV lost 3-0. The defender repeated the same time in the 0-0 draw against Arnhem Vitesse. Next: FC Utrecht 2/3 Eredivisie; ADO Den Haag 2/6 Eredivisie
 
Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar)
- Moreno was suspended for the match against FC Groningen where AZ lost 1-0. Next: @ NAC Breda 2/2 Eredivisie; @ Feyenoord 2/7 Eredivisie

Turkey

Giovani Dos Santos (Galatasaray)
-After being sent on loan from Tottenham, Gio quickly made his way onto the Galatasaray team. Giovani entered in the 58th minute in the game where Galatasaray won 2-1 to make his debut in the Turkish League. 

Ukraine

Nery Castillo (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk)
- Castillo’s loan deal fell through and remains with the Ukrainian club. 

Venezuela

Rodrigo Prieto (Caracas FC)
- No activity this week. Next: @ Monagas SC 2/7 

Colombia

Mario Garcia (Boyaca Chico FC)
- Garcia played all 90 minutes in the 2-1 win over Cortulua. Next: Real Cartagena 2/7
