Pumas, Toluca Falter, Finish In Scoreless Draw
Neither Pumas nor Toluca were much offensive threats on Sunday and the two sides finished in a nil-nil draw.
For Pumas, the game marked the second consecutive time the club was held scoreless in a high-profile game. Against crosstown rivals Cruz Azul a week ago, Pumas tied 0-0.
Toluca, meanwhile, managed a shutout for the first time this season. The club has just two points to show for four matches, though.
The closest any side came to scoring was in the 81st minute. Martin Bravo found himself with the ball near the top of the box and Toluca goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera was well off his line. Bravo fired but knocked his shot off the crossbar. The ball caromed down and off Toluca defender Diego Novaretti, who had stood on the line to try and block the shot.
