Cruz Azul’s Christian Gimenez Anxious For Debut
Christian Gimenez hopes to make his debut for Cruz Azul on Saturday against Pumas.
“It's nice to be able to debut in a derby match, in your house, before your fans,” said Christian Gimenez in a press conference.
Gimenez was unable to make his debut last week against Jaguares thanks to a suspension he picked up in his last game with Pachuca. The Argentine feels ready and can’t wait to hope out on the field in his new blue and white uniform.
“Pumas have many good players, and this is a derby so it will be a wonderful game because the rival never stops attacking or running,” noted Gimenez. “It will be nice to be there.”
Cruz Azul’s offense could certainly need a boost especially with what they displayed against Jaguares. There are very few players in Mexican football that can provide that instantaneous boost but “El Chaco” is one of them.
“Everything depends on whether I play or not. I can tell you that I feel great and I can contribute,” admitted Gimenez.
How well Gimenez will do in the Cruz Azul uniform is yet to be known. One thing that is certain is that his manager Enrique “El Ojitos” Meza sure knows how to bring out the best in him.
“I know Profe Meza's system very well. I was with him for three years. I know perfectly what he wants and what I can give him. I have adjusted very well to my teammates but I just hope to carry everything over from training to the field,” said Gimenez.
