America’s talented defender will be out of the line-up after an injury.

America gained a lot this past weekend. Las Aguilas showcased their superior skill after defeating San Luis 5-1. It wasn’t all fun for America however. During the half Americas stalwart defender, Aquivaldo Mosquera was surprisingly taken out. It was later found out that Mosquera suffered an injury. The extent of Mosquera’s injury was made known by Alfonso Diaz, head of America’s medical services

“He has a muscle injury in the outer part of the thigh. It is a tear which will not heal for another three to four weeks,” announced Diaz in a press conference.

The exams taken on the defender were only preliminary ones. They still need more testing and that could mean more time out of the line-up for Mosquera.

“In order to determine how long it will take, we need to run a second exam,” explained Diaz. “But I think it will be less than three or four weeks. We still need that last test in order to determine the magnitude of the injury.”

Mosquera will be checked on a daily basis. America would love him out and about as soon as possible but they don’t want to risk triggering a more serious injury.

“The evaluations are held daily,” admitted Diaz. There will be a weekly report on his status which will also state whether he needs more time off.”

Mosquera suffered a similar injury last season which saw him side lined for three games. America was unable to win in those three games. The injury is a new one and ha nothing to do with the one suffered last season confirmed Dr. Diaz.
