Toluca President Won't Reveal Tricolor's Plans
Mexico have a plan for their World Cup friendlies but Toluca President Fernando Corona said he is not about to discuss them quite yet.
What it is, though, remains mostly a mystery.
Toluca President Fernando Corona said he would not reveal the plans even though he is aware of them because the time is not quite right.
"Until the contracts are all signed, nothing can be brought forth," Corona told reporters. "But everything has been arranged and Nestor de la Torre is going about things in a very professional manner."
Mexico's rumored opponents have included El Salvador, New Zealand, Chile and the Netherlands. However, El Salvador may not come to fruition as the United States announced a friendly against El Salvador in late February.
New Zealand's football federation announced their match against Mexico for March 3 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena while reports out of Europe were that Mexico and the Netherlands would meet May 26 in Austria.
Chile could serve as Mexico's opponent when El Tri plays their final game before its home crownd, sometime in May in Estadio Azteca.
Corona said El Tri would not play against just any nation, making the El Salvador rumor appear to have been just talk.
"(The FMF is) looking for quality and ability," Corona said about potential opponents. "We cannot play against a team that won't help Mexico move forward."
