Report: Shakhtar Set To Loan Castillo To Olympiacos
Mexico international Nery Castillo could re-join Olympiacos on a loan from Shakhtar, according to published reports.
According to published reports in Greece and Ukraine, Castillo is close to re-joining former club Olympiacos on loan from Shakthar Donetsk, with whom he signed in 2007.
Castillo, 25, has been unable to do anything substantial with Dnipro. He has played just 71 minutes for the club this season. Since leaving Olympiacos, Castillo has struggled to find playing for Shakthar or during either of his loan spells with Manchester City or Dnipro.
With Olympiacos, Castillo gained prominence. For seven seasons, Castillo wore the Greek club's colors and blossomed into a star player. He joined the Mexican national team in 2007 and had a breakthrough performance at the 2007 Copa America, but has taken several steps backwards for both club and country since then.
While Castillo cannot find regular playing time, he is still a fixture on El Tri. However, he scored just one goal for Mexico in their 2010 qualifying campaign.
According to reports, Castillo was in Greece finalizing the terms of the loan deal this week.
