America's Ordiales: Cabañas Is Going Nowhere
America forward Salvador Cabañas is not going to Sunderland or anywhere else anytime soon, America executive Jaime Ordiales said.
America executive Jaime Ordiales said Cabañas will spend the Bicentenario season wearing America's colors and trying to help the club restore their glory and return las Aguilas to prominence.
England will have to wait.
"Those are baseless rumors, no more," Ordiales told reporters. "As we've said before, nobody from England ever approached me or my (club's) president."
Reports out of England suggested Sunderland had a keen eye on Cabañas, who is America's most potent offensive weapon. Cabañas scored four goals in America's recent InterLiga campaign and is one of the top goal scorers in the Mexican league.
The Paraguayan international will continue to be one of the top scoring threats in Mexico, Ordiales said.
"They're just rumors, there's nothing there," Ordiales said. "This is the team with which we'll play the season."
