Israel Martinez is hopeful America will win the Interliga and gain a spot in the Libertadores.
“I don’t think it was a short time span. We had a week off and had a lot of time to work. We ran two a days and always put the team first. We will come out with everything, with the conviction to win the title and qualify for the Libertadores,” El Jagger told Mediotiempo.com.
America will have to start the Interliga against a very tough opponent. Los Santos also has a spot in the Libertadores set in their minds and wont be a push over. The team went through a recent coaching change with the addition of Ruben Omar Romano. That could be a good and bad thing for America.
“It will be a complicated game,” said Martinez. Romano knows his football but we will play our game and try to win the game to start off with a win in the tournament.”
Like Santos America has also seen some changes in the squad. Las Aguilas added three players who have been training with Las Aguilas and are ready to show what they’ve got. Martinez welcomes anyone into the team especially if they make a difference.
“They come here with a lot to give. Whoever comes will always be received well. We will try to get the best out of them for the good of the team,” punctuated Martinez.
