Xmas XI: What Santa Should Give Mexico Soccer
Goal.com's Mexico soccer staff takes a look at who has been naughty or nice and decides on appropriate presents.
For Rafael Marquez - Punching bags that look like U.S. internationals, so he can take out his aggression on in the safety of his own home and far away from any red cards. Yoga and meditation classes could be the follow-up New Year's resolution for the temperamental defender.
For Cuauhtemoc Blanco - Two new ankle braces to wear with during Liga de Ascenso games. Keeping the veteran midfielder healthy is a huge priority not only for Blanco, but for El Tri
For Giovani Dos Santos - A cushion with Spurs' colors so he can have a comfortable seat on the bench with Tottenham.
For Hugo Sanchez - An opening in the Mexican Primera Division so he doesn't have to go to Major League Soccer.
For Javier Aguirre - A contract extension, good through 2026. 'El Vasco' is the ideal coach for Mexico, and he will likely prove that again in the World Cup.
For Nery Castillo - A one-way plane ticket from Kiev to Guadalajara, with a 12-month layover in the Netherlands. Somewhere, Nery needs playing time.
For Jorge Vergara - A clue. Threatening star veteran players with no field time is a low form of gamesmanship.

For Cruz Azul - A trophy. After coming so close again and being turned away, the cross might stand for a distress signal.
For Indios - A regular-season home victory. Futility should have limits.
For Leon - Promotion to the Primera Division.
For the Mexican National Team - A spot in CONMEBOL so El Tri can leave CONCACAF (and the whole farce of giants) in their past.
