The championship game in any sporting event is always a special one. In this case Cruz Azul and Monterrey will have the honors to fight for the Apertura title.

For some it’s the time to rise to the occasion while others crumble under the pressure. Cruz Azul has certainly crumbled the in their last two final appearances. It could have been a minor coaching tweak which cost them the titles and that’s why Monterrey’s manager, Victor Manuel Vucetich, doesn’t want to get overly excited.

“You can't get anxious and desperate or throw everything forward like mad. You have to be patient,” said Vucetich in a press conference.

Cruz Azul is a changed team under the guidance of the very wise Enrique Meza. Vucetich knows how much these two teams have in common but that wont matter come game time.  The better of the two will leave it all out there in the end.

“I believe Cruz Azul as well as Monterrey are teams who deserve to be in the final,” admitted Vucetich. Both have been able to manage games and have been able to finish. Teams have quality, both managers have experience, and I believe now the only thing that matters is what is done on the field.”

Vucetich like any coach had his eyes set on the title when Monterrey began their journey. Now that it is with in grasp its all the manager can think of.

“The only thing I desire is the championship. When you play a final, you play to win. That's the only thing on my mind and that's the only thing I want.”

Monterrey seemed to struggle just before the Liguilla. Los Rayados were favorites to get eliminated but it didn’t happen. Vucetich credits Monterrey’s Group work for the success.

“No special work has been done. We've done the same work as we've been doing, as a group and it's that work that has given us our positive results,” noted Vucetich.

Monterrey’s Group work will be put to the test against Cruz Azul. Both tams are hungry but only one will feed.
