Mexicans Abroad: Quiet Performances

Only four Mexicans Abroad were on the field for league victories on the weekend .

If ever there was a week to forget for Mexicans Abroad, it may be this one. Inactivity continued for some while spotty performances were commonplace for many. Only four players were on the field for league victories on the weekend.

Spain

Rafael Marquez (Barcelona)
- Marquez played all 90 minutes in the midweek match against Xerez; Barcelona won 2-0. He wasn’t on the team sheet for the 3-1 win over Deportivo La Coruna.  

Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruña)- Guardado played 87 minutes in the loss to Barcelona.  

Hugo Sanchez (Almeria)- Almeria provided a challenge for Real Madrid before falling 4-2.  

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barca Atletic)- Dos Santos played all 90 minutes in the 2-1 win against Lleida.

Juan Seguro (Real Union Club de Irun)- Seguro remained on the bench for the 4-1 loss against Real Sociedad.  

Germany

Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart)
- Ricardo Osorio's status was in doubt going into the game with a thigh injury. He was unable to make it onto the list for the loss against VfL Bochum.  

Italy

Miguel Layun (Atalanta)
- Layun was not included in the team sheet for the 2-0 loss against Fiorentina.  

England

Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham Hotspur)
- Before the weekend game against Everton that ended 2-2 Spurs’ manager, Harry Redknapp, still needed to regain fitness before playing in first team game.  


Carlos Vela (Arsenal)
- Arsenal crashed out to Manchester City midweek in the Carling Cup with a 3-0 loss. Vela played all 90 minutes but was unable to do much for his team. On Saturday Vela played the second half of the game against Stoke and was involved in the process for the second goal for Arsenal in their 2-0 win.  

Guillermo Franco (West Ham)
- Franco was unable to keep his scoring streak alive as West Ham United fell 4-0 to Manchester United.

Netherlands

Carlos Salcido (PSV)
- On Thursday the player played all 90 minutes in the last minute 1-0 win in the Europa League against Sparta Prague. Salcido was then on the field for 90 minutes in the 2-0 win over RKC Waalwijk.  

Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez (PSV)
- Rodriquez suited up for the entire game in the 1-0 win over Sparta Prague in the Europa League. The defender again played for the same time in the domestic game against RKC Waalwijk.  

Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar)
- Moreno played 90 minutes before being substituted in the second half in the 2-1 loss to Vitesse Arnhem.  

Ukraine

Nery Castillo (Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk)
- Castillo continued his consistency in missing games; he was not called up for the 2-0 win over Metalurh Donetsk.  

Ecuador

Carlos Moran (Cuenca)
- Cuenca was unable to win over Deportivo Quito 3-2 in the second leg of the final. Moran did not play the game.   

Peru

Rodolfo Espinoza (Club Universitario de Deportes)
- Espinoza did not play in the 5-0 loss to Melgar FBC.  

Emmanuel Cerda (Club Universitario de Deportes)
- Cerda did not play in the 5-0 loss to Melgar FBC.  

Nathanial Revetria (Sport Ancash on loan from River, Uruguay)
- Revetria was not on the team sheet for the 1-0 win over Sporting Cristal.

Venezuela

Rodrigo Prieto (Caracas FC)
- Prieto played all 90 minutes in the 4-0 win over Zulia. The striker had several chances but was unable to personally convert any. He was involved in the lead up for the second goal.  

Colombia

Mario Garcia (Boyaca Chico FC)
- Mario Garcia did not make it on the team sheet for the 4-2 loss against Deportivo Cali.
