Tomas Boy Happy With Team After Being Knocked Out
Morelia’s head coach Tomas Boy has mixed feelings after being knocked out by Cruz Azul.
Although his team was knocked out Tomas Boy showed his gratitude towards the team for making it so far.
“We lost a tremendous semifinal and the general feeling is one of frustration but at the same time happiness because my team gave a strong effort,” said Tomas Boy in a press conference.
Morelia had their chance against Cruz Azul but could do nothing with them. That’s what eventually got them knocked out mentioned Boy.
“That's football. When we had our moments we were not able to finish off our rival and they were able to take advantage.”
Boy will take something away from this bitter ordeal. Morelia will keep on growing thanks to these types o f experiences admitted Boy.
“The most important thing is the growth my team had in this round. We beat Santos and were close to beating Cruz Azul. We had the same points as them; there was just a difference in goals. We knew we could play against a team of this caliber.”
Wilson Tiago Mathias also weighed in on the conversation and said that it’s the teams fault for not advancing.
“We all have to take our share of the blame. We didn't finish when we had our chances and that's why we are out of the playoffs,” said Tiago.
Tiago also added that the situation was unfortunate one given Morelia’s great team and success during the regular season.
“We weren't very fortunate. It's very sad for us to depart. We just need to keep our heads up because we had a great season but it's just unfortunate because the team looked to score all game,” concluded Tiago.
