Eighth-place San Luis earned the task of hosting Toluca for the first game of the two-legged series of the Liguilla. Although the home team tried to play at their regular time, they had trouble fixing times and ended having to play on Sunday midday. The time did not seem to have much an effect on San Luis who won 1-0 with a goal from Pablo Cesar Aguilar.

Early on San Luis demonstrated their plan for the game when they attacked in the fifth minute. Cesar Eduardo Gonzalez sent in the ball from the right side of the field but  Braulio Luna ended up sending it wide.

In the 30th minute Luna came close to scoring at the far post with a header. Luna out  jumped Carlos Esquivel to head the ball, but it ended up floating over the post to keep the score level.

Toluca responded in the 36th minute. Esquivel initially passed to Sinha who then back heeled the  ball back to Esquivel who took it into the area and tried to shoot, with Adrian Martinez diving in goal to stop, but the ball ended up going wide of goal.

Braulio Luna had another opportunity to put San Luis in front in the 50th minute. Luna took the ball after a few bounces and went past defenders only to end up sending the ball over the goal.

Five minutes later San Luis arrived in the Toluca area to test their luck once again. Tressor Moreno received the ball in front of goal and tried a bicycle kick, but the ball ended up going wide of the left post.

Again in the 58th minute Tressor Moreno sent in a ball for an unmarked Braulio Luna, but the player ended up heading the ball low and wide of the post.

In the 77th minute Aguilar scored a goal for San Luis. Tressor Moreno took a corner kick and it went to Aguilar who managed to overcome Manuel De La Torre and Romagnioli to head it past Alfredo Talavera for a 1-0 advantage.

Talavera prevented San Luis from doubling their lead in the 79th minute. A corner was headed toward goal by Adrian Garcia Arias, but Talavera dove and saved the ball from the line to keep Toluca’s disadvantage at a minimum.

Toluca were overtaken by five San Luis players on a counterattack in the 89th minute . Tressor Moreno crossed the ball to Braulio Luna, who then sent it back for Jesus Palacios; the player then ended up sending it up to stands.

Sunday November 29 will decide who moves on in the Liguilla. San Luis currently lead with one goal, but if Toluca were to equalize then they would move on due to their higher position in the Clausura 2009.
