Beausejour Wants The Old America Back

After two wins in their last seven games Jean Beausejour is calling for the America of old to come back.

America has certainly come a long way from the one-win-at-home team that was on display last season. Las Aguilas qualified fourth overall into the Liguilla and have a tough task ahead of them. Monterrey will be America’s first opponent in the Liguilla. The last time these two met America won by the minimal margin.

Jean Beausejour doesn’t want the same result against Monterrey this time around. The forward would like to see the America that presented itself at the beginning of the season.

“The America that should be seen is the one that played against Toluca, Cruz Azul, and Tecos. I think that’s the America that we all want to see. The team that showed up in the second half against Pumas is a team of reaction and we want to see that one too,” Beausejour told Mediotiempo.com.

Beausejour doesn’t think America is the favorite in the Liguilla. In fact the Chilean pointed to the team who he helped crush 7-2 as the favorite. Toluca might be high on Beausejour’s list but that shouldn’t matter in the Liguilla.

“We can’t take away the illusion of a championship form our fans,” admitted Beausejour. Were the ones who helped build it when we qualified to the Liguilla. We need to keep our composure and respect our opponents because that was the formula to our success and this won’t be the exception. When speaking of a favorite I think it really should be Toluca because they qualified in first place. Everyone starts from zero in this Liguilla so anything could happen.”

Beausejour is only concentrated in the upcoming game against Monterrey. Last time they played a pretty even game where they could have won said the forward.

“Monterrey is a team that controls the ball well. They have good players, which when left alone could make the difference. We played them already at home and it was a game that could have gone either way,” said Beausejour.

The game should once  again be a close one and once again should provide for a good spectacle.
