So much for closing out the season on a high note.

Jaguares promised to put forth a strong effort in their regular-season finale but failed to win at home yet again as Atlas beat Jaguares 3-2 in Estadio Victor Manuel Reyna on Saturday.

Jaguares entered the match with high hopes of claiming their first home triumph but instead fell to 0-6-2 at home this season. Had Jaguares won even half of their home games, the club would have had enough points to have reached the Liguilla.

Instead, the club were reminded why they did not come close to the postseason.

Things actually started well for Jaguares, as Oribe Peralta scored eight minutes in when Jesus Roberto Chavez found him inside the box with a cross and Peralta headed home the opening goal.

But the lead was too good to last. Atlas scored twice in a seven-minute span in the second half. Hebert Efrain Alferez and Daniel Osorno scored the goals respectively. Alferez set up the second goal.

Yasser Corona scored the equalizer in the 70th minute as Jaguares seemed poised to overcome the deficit and send their supporters home with a victory to celebrate for the first time.

Instead, it was Osorno who scored the game-winner. Osorno, who earlier this week had criticized Atlas' front office, bagged the decisive goal in the 77th minute when Nestor Vidrio found him inside the box. Osorno finished the pass off and gave Atlas their first win since Oct. 2.
