San Luis In Despite Horrible Loss
San Luis depended only on themselves to qualify but it did not happen that way.
San Luis will be pared up with Toluca to start things off in the Liguilla. The win for Queretaro will help them accumulate points to avoid being relegated next season.
First Half
Queretaro made their presence felt early in the game.
Mauro Vila started things off with a shot on goal in the 5th minute.
San Luis did not look hurried and reacted in the 25th minute. Braulio Luna had a go and his shot was stopped by a sliding Margarito Gonzalez. Alfredo Moreno tried it one minute later but Carlos Bossio kept it out with a one handed save.
The score line did not move until the 30th minute. Vila delivered a great ball into the box. Isaac Romo found it and hit it with his right foot. Adrian Martinez could do very little to save it as Queretaro went up, 1-0.
The day got worse for San Luis as Raul Rico was sent off after receiving his second yellow of the game.
Second Half
The second half story was not going to get better for San Luis.
A minute after the restart Queretaro saw their score inflate to 2. After a series of bounces in the box the ball fell to Margarito Gonzalez. Gonzalez placed the ball perfectly to Vilar who headed it home.
The game kept on and San Luis still did not seem hurried even with the score in Jalisco at 0-0.
Queretaro would add insult to injury in the closing stage of the game. Jose Aceves made his presence felt after receiving the ball inside the box and tapping it in. Three minutes later Carlos Pinto would drive a bouncing ball into the back of the net.
The defeat was bitter sweet for San Luis as they went down by four at the hands of Queretaro.
