The Apertura 2009 season has been a disaster for Atlas, but manager Ricardo Lavolpe will have to wait until two days after the season to see if it cost him his job.

Club officials will have a meeting with Lavolpe on Monday to determine his continuity with the club.

"The decision was made to talk to Ricardo on Monday," club president Carlos Martin del Campo told Guadalajara daily Mural. "We will look at everything bad that happened and what little good there was and we'll go from there."

Atlas close out the season on Saturday against Jaguares, but not even a three-goal victory would put a positive note on the season as the destitute Guadalajara side have a 4-9-3 record and have just 15 points. Only Indios have fewer points this season.

Lavolpe said he felt ashamed about how the season has gone, and worse considering the expectations were raised when he arrived.

"In Atlas, perhaps in early 1996 and 97 it was complicated but afterward we put together a great team," Lavolpe told reporters. "Now the supporters have expected a lot from me and I feel sad for hte fans and the people who supported me and my staff and I feel like there is a terrible debt we must pay."

Lavolpe's current tenure has not resembled his previous one. In the late 1990s, Lavolpe built a competitive and contending club. With Lavolpe at the helm, Atlas reached the playoffs eight consecutive seasons and compiled a 62-38-35 regular-season record in the process.

Atlas played Toluca in the Verano 99 season, the high point of Lavolpe's first tenure with Atlas.

Thus far, there really has been no high point during his second tenure. But Lavolpe made no excuses.

"I'm not going to try and justify it," he said. "I'm not going to say that we've struggled because I haven't been paid in two months. But I will tell people to have faith, that over the long term results will come."

Whether Lavolpe will be the one to see process through will be determined next week.

"It's not my decision nor is it his," Del Campo said. "We need to analyze everything... all the pros and cons."
