Morelia took advantage of Toluca's defeat to take control of the overall league table with a 2-1 win at Jaguares.

The victory, however, did not secure a playoff berth. Morelia can clinch a spot in Jornada 16 with a win over Pumas but have not yet wrapped up their playoff spot.

Still, Morelia manager Tomas Boy said he was satisfied with the victory.

"We hope to continue getting better and head into the playoffs in search of the championship," Boy told Notimex..

Morelia scored quickly against Jaguares, who have yet to win a home this season.

For his part, Jaguares manager Luis Fernando Tena said he was ashamed for the string of poor results at home.

"What's certain is that I'm very upset and I'm ashamed for the fans' sake," Tena told Notimex. "We have not been able to win at home and that's disappointing."

Morelia's Luis Gabriel Rey opened the scoring in the 19th mintue when he buried a ball into the goal after getting a pass from Aldo Leal Ramirez. Fernando "Pollo" Salazar bagged the match-winner 10 minutes later when he sent a header into the goal after Luis Alonso Sandoval found him in front of the goal.

Oribe Peralta got a goal back for Jaguares just before halftime but Morelia were able to close out the second half without allowing a goal.

Morelia can clinch the top spot in the league table with a pair of wins in their last two games - against Pumas and Monterrey.

Still, their top form this season won't matter much come the playoffs, Boy said.

"Everyone begins at zero in search of the ultimate triumph," Boy said.
